Copy NinjaTrader trades through your broker login
NinjaTrader 8 is where you place your trades. Behind it sits a broker login: Tradovate or Rithmic. MirrorFill works with NinjaTrader through that login, no add-on needed: it connects to the login directly, so a trade you place from NinjaTrader 8 on that account is copied like any other trade on it. MirrorFill does not connect to the NinjaTrader software itself, and there is nothing to install in NinjaTrader.
Steps
- Open Accounts, click + Add connection and pick the NinjaTrader tile. The Details step opens on the Tradovate form, under the line "Through your Tradovate login".
- Rithmic behind yours? Press Change on that line and pick Rithmic. Not sure which? See below.
- Fill in the form. On Tradovate you enter a Connection name and pick Demo or Live for Connect with Tradovate, or press Use a password instead for a username and password. On Rithmic you enter a Connection name, your System, Username and Password.
- Finish the way that broker does. With Connect with Tradovate, approve the connection on Tradovate's website, then press Test on it once you are back on the Accounts page. Otherwise press Continue, then Test, then Save connection on the Connect step. The details are in connect a Tradovate account and connect a Rithmic account.
Tradovate or Rithmic: which is behind yours?
- Prop firm accounts use whichever login the firm issued you: a Rithmic username with a system name, or a Tradovate login. Your firm's welcome e-mail or dashboard says which.
- NinjaTrader on other data feeds (for example CQG) is not covered. MirrorFill connects only to the Tradovate or Rithmic login behind NinjaTrader.
What the saved connection looks like
The NinjaTrader tile is a shortcut to the right form, not a connection type of its own. The saved connection is an ordinary Tradovate or Rithmic connection that keeps the NinjaTrader mark: the app shows it as "NinjaTrader (Tradovate)" or "NinjaTrader (Rithmic)", and Edit opens that broker's form. Everything in connect a Tradovate account and connect a Rithmic account applies to it.
One session per login
Each Rithmic or Tradovate login allows one session, so NinjaTrader and the copier should not share a login. Signing in to NinjaTrader with the login the copier is using can force the copier's session out: on Rithmic the copier then stops and tells you why. Use separate logins where your firm offers them. See Rithmic session conflicts and Tradovate session conflicts.
Quick answers
Do I need a NinjaTrader add-on?
No. There is no MirrorFill add-on for NinjaTrader and nothing to install. MirrorFill connects to the Tradovate or Rithmic login behind NinjaTrader.
Does NinjaTrader on CQG or another data feed work?
No. Only the Tradovate and Rithmic logins behind NinjaTrader are covered.
Why does it say "NinjaTrader (Tradovate)"?
Because MirrorFill connects to the broker behind NinjaTrader. The name in brackets is the login the copier really uses.
Can NinjaTrader and the copier use the same login?
Plan for no. Each Rithmic or Tradovate login allows one session, so signing in to NinjaTrader with the copier's login can force the copier out. Use separate logins where your firm offers them.
